About Me:
I am an Arizona native, and the mesquite is my second most favorite tree, after the velvet ash tree, which is what led me to begin my studies in sustainability over 30 years ago.
In fact, my brother, Phil Hebets and his friend Donnie Fedock were the first to ever dig up and salvage the common native thorn forest trees – mesquite, palo verde, ironwood, etc.
I turned 60 last year, and I still dream of the day when I can quit my day job (34 years a real estate attorney) and go to work full time in sustainability.
Meanwhile, I do teach a land use law class to the planning students at ASU, though I still make most of my income from a real estate practice.
But my work load is so bad right now, I am pounding the pavement for the first time in over 25 years, and may end up leaving the valley.
Nevertheless, I hope to establish a strong relationship with the permaculture community.

We encourage you to browse the discussions, blogs, videos, comments to get a feel for our incredibly resourceful community, and to share your interests as well. There are many volunteer opportunities to assist with classes and events, so please let me know if you are interested in helping out when available.
We offer a variety of classes to our members on a donation basis (usually $10 to $25) that goes toward venue hard-costs, also to our experienced and knowledgeable instructors, as well as to support the non-profit in providing quality education for improving our health, our communities and environment. See what classes you may be interested in attending atwww.phoenixpermaculture.org/events - and feel free to contact us with any questions.
