  • Hello Dear,
How is everything with you,I picked interest on you after going through your short profile,I have something very vital to disclose to you,but I found it difficult to express myself here, since it's a public site.Could you please get back to me on(brunoserra@outlook.fr)for the full details.
    Have a nice day.

  • Becky,

I solarized to get rid of Bermuda.  This is the perfect time of year to start solarization.  Irrigate well, then cover with clear plastic and leave it on for the hottest part of the summer.  It will kill the bermuda and most other weeds (unfortunately, cheeseweed and prickly lettuce will likely survive).

Also, on peach varieties, I like May Pride.  (May Pride, NOT Mid Pride).  Really tasty fruit.  The blossoms are beautiful rich red doubles.  Some years when the tree blossoms all at once it is breathtaking.

    Rob

  • Sounds great!
  • That is very sweet offer! We live in East Mesa, ValVista/Main. I am afraid it may be out of your way, but if you are ever in the area you can stop in for a minute. With 2 toddlers we don't get out a lot, but would like to meet more permies. It seems that everyone from the group that I know of lives way out west or out in Queen Creek.
  • Sounds great, just at the moment our garden is in between everything, first squash just came in, but corn is still growing and the tomatoes are green. If you love beets this is the garden for you! We also have cabbage, but everything in the winter garden has bolted, so we salvaged what we could and everyday give a bit more to the flock. It is a first time garden after all. I am afraid we don't have a whole lot to offer on the swiss chard. Mother in law uses it like spinach. Kris loves it, but I am still holding out on grrowing it. Sometimes you find great ideas in the archives for things like that. Maybe we could trade for a plant. I have a small container of strawberry from a 14 years strong vine, and curley parsley, and even sweet basil from HD.
  • And that, my friend, is because we don't have one! Hence the "thinking" about it part. We are the only people we know who aren't on facebook or have a blog. Still working on the tech skills here. Kris is handy and I am artistic, but no technical skills concerning internet/computer, but I have come a long way in the last 16 mos. Hopefully we can establish something by the end of the year. Thanks for the interest, though.
  • Hi Rebecca!  Welcome to the Valley Permaculture Alliance, a local 501C3 non-profit education organization that offers classes, training, activities, tours, events and demonstrations on various aspects of sustainable living around the Greater Phoenix Valley. You can read more about the VPA on the ‘About Us’ page, and explore the many groups and resources this Ning “social networking site” has to offer, as well as customize your own Profile Page and connect with new like-minded friends.

We encourage you to browse the discussions, blogs, videos, comments to get a feel for our incredibly resourceful community, and to share your interests as well. There are many volunteer opportunities to assist with classes and events, so please let me know if you are interested in helping out when available.

We offer a variety of classes to our members on a donation basis (usually $10 to $25) that goes toward venue hard-costs, also to our experienced and knowledgeable instructors, as well as to support the non-profit in providing quality education for improving our health, our communities and environment. See what classes you may be interested in attending atwww.phoenixpermaculture.org/events - and feel free to contact us with any questions.
