  • What do you think about the sundowner variety on M7?

  • Pink Lady apple on M111 with 3 grafts 15 gal--Planted last year around May. Regular water schedule, once every week. Did well over summer. The grafts looked good---Fuji, Gala, Sundowner. Went to sleep in Winter by dropping its leaves. Then over the winter I noticed tips starting to turn darker some even going black. In testing the branches by breaking them, they just snap off like dried dead wood.  Bought from RSI Growers. Owner said is first one he has heard that died other than a dog getting another one. He thought it might be blight but the black parts were not soft and no sawdust in wood. I continued to cut the tree down to the graft in the trunk and found nothing green whatsoever. He didn't think it was blight and doesn't know what may have killed it especially since it was in an inactive growing period. My watering schedule was basically on a citrus watering schedule. Once a week in the summer and cutting back to once a month in winter. I have nice sized basins around the trees and would fill the wells completely full. Any ideas?

I noticed past posts from you saying that pink lady does struggle in our soils even on M111. I love pink lady apple flavor but wondering if I should grow a base tree of another kind like you have--Fuji, or Gala and then graft pink lady to it. I am not a fan of the soft mushy type green, yellow apples

  • Andrew you mentioned there are 2 nurseries here in Phoenix that grow fruit trees locally. Who are they? I wish to contact them for possible employment. Do you know of any greenhouse or hydroponic operations looking for employees?
