Phoenix Water Harvesting Lecture Series Opened to Public

Interested in learning more about Water Harvesting, but not quite ready to commit to our full nine-day Water Harvesting Certification? Have a few water-harvesting projects under your toolbelt, but would like to learn more? Want to explore simple, affordable practices that harvest water to grow shade and food plants, while providing habitat for people and wildlife? Want to do it at an unbeatably affordable price?

We thought so. That's why Watershed Management Group is opening four of the lectures from our world-renowned Water Harvesting Certification Training to members of the public this spring. The presenters are dynamic educators and experts in their field. This lecture series will introduce the concepts of integrated water harvesting design in an informative and accessible way that will inspire you to make the most of your resources at home — and we're offering each lecture for just $25 a session.The four-session series, to be held in Phoenix, includes:

Friday 2/24, 3-5 p.m.: Water Harvesting Earthworks with Catlow Shipek
Learn design and application of basins, berms, swales, terraces, and french drains. This lecture covers lot-scale to watershed-scale practices with information on soils, landscape materials, and integration with plants. Please register here.

Monday 2/27, 8-10 a.m.: Cisterns with Mark Ragel, owner of Water Harvesting International
Comprehensive overview of cistern systems from guttering, filtration, storage, and distribution, including best management practices and cistern types for different applications. Please register here.

Wednesday 2/29, 1-3 p.m.: Water Harvesting for Food Production with Brad Lancaster
Brad's lecture covers a diverse range of agricultural applications from backyard to large-scale systems, showing how rain and greywater can enhance food production while conserving water. Please register here.

Wednesday 2/29 3-5 p.m.: Greywater Systems with Brad Lancaster
Greywater systems harvest water from laundry machines, bathroom sinks and showers, and air conditioner condensate. Learn how to reuse greywater in your yard, with a focus on gravity-fed systems, plumbing considerations, and appropriate uses. Please register here.

Pre-registration and pre-payment is required for each session. Payments for lectures must be made at least one day prior to the lecture date. Lectures will be held at Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center, 2225 N. 16th Street, Phoenix.
