What's in your yard?

I really appreciated Debbie's listing of what she's working on in her yard and was inspired to start a discussion about this topic.  Maybe I'll turn it into a blog when I have more time to discuss in detail each tree and the successes and failures... in the mean time, here is a listing of what I've got (this is between our house and our rental next door):

Proven Winners for Production:

Peaches: Tropic Snow, Desert Gold, Mid-Pride

Apples: Anna & Golden Dorset

Brown Turkey Fig (no sign of beetle action yet, fingers crossed)

JuJuBees: Lang & Li (and these trees are only on their second year)

Grapes: Pearlette, Crimson, Flame & Thompson – every one fantastic

Citrus: AZ Sweet Oranges (100yr old trees), Marsh Grapefruit (100 yr old trees), Meyer Lemon (both in ground and potted), Palestinian Sweet Lime (does NOT taste like a lime BTW, I think it tastes a little like soap), Mexican Thorned Lime (excellent fruit but a wicked tree, would have gotten thornless if I had half a brain), Clementine Tangerine, Kinnow Manderin, Rio Red Grapefruit

Pomegranate: Wonderful planted in ground

Potted Limequat

Potted Curry Leaf (this has successfully set seed for the last two years, although it’s grown for the leaves)

We’ll See:

2 year old full size Banana (forgot which kind) that hasn’t successfully fruited yet but has grown very vigorously and I expect fruit this year

4 year old dwarf Morro Blood Orange that has yet to even flower

5th attempt (at least) at an Avocado, tried both seed and purchased pots (seriously NOT worth it!)

Would like to try the Papaya again, we started seeds in a pot and they must have all sprouted, but we didn’t do anything with them…

Moringa seeds (for second try), growing them in pots wasn’t working so this time into the ground!

Lechee Tree is now on it’s third transplant from a pot to the ground and now back in a much larger pot, still struggling.

Persimmons: Hachiya, Fuyu and Giant Fuyu – needed to move them to a location with more sun, they were in deep shade for three years and while they grew, they did not flower…

Need to move a Variegated Pink Lemon that hasn’t done much in it’s current location.

Potted Allspice – it’s growing well but hasn’t flowered and needs to be transplanted to a bigger pot

Flavor Delight Aprium, planted only last year.

Violette de Bordeaux Fig, planted last year

New this year:

Florida Prince Peach

Royal Lee & Minnie Royal Cherries

SpiceZee Nectaplum

Double Delight Necarine

3rd attempt at Cara Cara Navel Orange

3rd attempt at Chayote Squash

Pomegranates: ………8 new different varieties!

Mulberry Pakistani

Strawberry Guava

Blackberries, various

Surinam Cherry

Almonds: Garden Prince & All in One

JuJuBee: Sugar Cane

Cherimoya (will need to be hand pollinated…)

White Sapote

Wish list: an excellent Pecan tree, maybe next year…
