Mesa Community Garden

The Mesa Urban Garden group along with the City of Mesa are excited for a new community garden that will be opening in downtown mesa this fall. Partnerships, sponsors, and volunteers are needed at this stage of development. We are also currently looking for donations leading up to a groundbreaking in mid to late June. We are in need of railroad ties, garden soil, wood chips, pavers, tools, seeds, plants, etc. Construction on the garden will begin in late June and the garden will be operational for the fall planting season. Plots will be available to groups and the general public in the fall.

We look forward to a true community effort to get this garden up and running!

Thanks,

Mesa Urban Garden

  • How do we sign up to volunteer? I'd love to help out with some good old fashioned labor!

    • the land use agreement with the city of mesa is expected to be finalized on july 2, and shortly there after we will be starting to build out the garden and hence looking for help!

    • Great! I'll keep my eyes out for that info!

  • The Mesa Community Garden is applying for a little bit of end-of-year funds from our council member's community fund (available until June 30th) -- but we'd like to see more interest for the project on the City's iMesa development. Please check out the initial idea and give it your votes! (http://imesa.mesaaz.gov/forums/97091-imesa-ideas/suggestions/142522...)

    Thank you!

  • For wood chips you might try Mike Gonta of TLC resources.  They manage several HOA contracts in the valley and he always arranges for one of his crews nearest our garden to periodically drop chips off to us for lining out pathways and work areas.

    His number is (602) 980-2677

    • Great! Thanks for the contact.
