Greetings sustainability bibliophiles,Our book choice for November (2nd Saturday, 11/08/08) is In Defense of Food by Michael Pollan.
At this time the book is only available in hard cover. If you would like me to order a copy for you from Changing Hands (20% discount) please let me know by Wednesday (10/08/08).To learn more about Michael Pollan: http://www.michaelpollan.com/I would also like you to begin thinking about December. First, do we want to meet in December or will most of us be to busy thinking about the holidays to read a book? Secondly, if we do decide to choose a book for December what book will it be? There are so many excellent choices out there - some input from members would be nice.My choice for the book following ". . .Defense. . .": Sharon Astyk's new book, Depletion and Abundance: Life on the New Home Front.
For more info. on this particular book: http://www.storycirclebookreviews.org/reviews/depletion.shtmlOne last thing - As some of you already know I am unable to make the October meeting as I have a prior family commitment. I can't do this alone folks. If I lived closer I might be able to squeeze more into a day but I don't and I can't. In order for the October meeting to take place we need a volunteer to step up to the plate and take charge. If you plan to be at that particular meeting you might be the perfect person to take over for that meeting. It really is easy peasy - all you have to do is show up/be present/focus and ask a semi-intelligent question to get the ball rolling. The rest takes care of itself:-DUntil next time - Lindy
