  • Very nice, Dr. Brooks.

  • Dr. Brooks, are you able to grow lettuce year round, or does it get too hot at some point?
    • Its too hot now. They are still doing ok, but I must harvest them asap. It grew far faster than we could eat it so I've been giving it away for the past month. More than 20 pounds so (including 4 or 5 pounds of red chard) far with another 4 or so pounds left to go. I've been told that lettuce can continue to grow if we had a shade screen. That might help, but lettuce as an optimum water temperature of 71F. As temperatures inch up to last  years max of 85F, I think it would have a hard time. (Photo of red sails from April 19th, 2013 - about 4 pounds)
